Organization of Islamic Conference condemns attacks on civilians in the Philippines

Salam/Peace:

The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) on Thursday condemned recent rebel Muslim attacks on civilians in southern Philippines.

Grouping 57 countries and representing 1.3 billion Muslims worldwide, the organization has been fostering peace negotiations between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

The organization’s secretary-general, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, condemned what he called “illegitimate acts conducted by wayward elements” of the MILF, apparently referring to supposedly rogue commanders Umbra Kato and Abdurahman Macapaar, or Bravo, the leaders of the attacks.
